Laboratory Services / Instructions

Listed below you will find helpful information regarding our lab’s services, hours, and guideline each patient should follow to help ensure conclusive results.

Some laboratory tests require patients to limit food intake to water-only for a period of time. This is called fasting. Please read “Fasting Instructions” below.

Fasting Instructions:
Nothing to eat OR drink, except water. This means you CANNOT have:

diet soda or soda
coffee or decaf coffee
candy, mints or gum

Medications should be taken as usual unless they are taken with food or milk or if your doctor says otherwise.

How long to Fast: (before test) If testing for Lipids / Cholesterol… 12 hours*
If testing for Blood Sugar… 8-12 hours*

*NOTE: Fasting longer than 14 hours can cause an error in your lipid (cholesterol, triglycerides) results.

Lab Hours:
Monday – Friday
By appointment only for blood testing
Hormone, stool, saliva and urine testing kits can be picked up during regular office hours.

Early appointments are reserved for fasting patients only.

Because of the detail at which results are reviewed and the instruction given to treat underlying causes rather then merely symptoms, an in-office follow up appointment is typically needed. Exceptions are made for out of town/state patients traveling longer distances. If you have not heard from your physician or nurse within 10 days please contact our office and kindly ask if you results have arrived. Some stool, hormone, toxicity and food sensitivity results take up to 3 weeks to receive results.
